When we compare the top 10 baby names lists in the USA and Canada, we see a degree of commonality, with slightly more commonality in girl baby names. Interestingly, the top three boy and girl baby names in both USA and Canada all feature in the corresponding top 10 of the other country. Canada top baby names of 2013. In Canada parents are inspiration by traditional baby names as Olivia (2) and Sophia (3) for girls and Oliver (6) for boys. Biblical names continue to prove popular, with Jacob (2), Noah (8), and Gabriel (11) and Leah (8, Sara(h) (9) and Naomi (18). Also big were names originating from Britain, especially for boys, with Liam topping the list, and Aidan/Aiden (18) for boys.
Australia's most popular baby names. For the first time, Oliver is the most popular boy's name in Australia after jumping from the third spot in 2012, while Charlotte took out the top spot for newborn girls in 2013 and has held the position since 2011.

After 14 years at the top Jacob has lost its spot as the most popular name for newborn American boys, knocked from its place by Noah and Liam. The USA's Social Security Administration indicates the name Jacob fell to number three in 2013. Sophia remains at the top of girls baby names for the third year in a row, while Emma took second place. Over the last 100 years, Michael has held the top spot 44 times, while Mary has ranked number one 42 times. Jacob and Emily have thus far proven the most popular name of the 2000s. Michael and Jessica were at the top in the 1990s and the 1980s.
